Rolfing vs Structural Integration

Jeffrey’s practice is referred to as Structural Integration, which is the general term for Dr. Ida Rolf’s work. The words Rolfing, Rolfer and Rolf Institute are all service marks of The Rolf Institute, of which Jeffrey is not a member. Therefore, he does not technically refer to his work as “Rolfing” or to himself as a “Rolfer.”

In practical terms, the work Jeffrey offers is in the same family as classic Rolfing: deep, precise, fascial‑based Structural Integration grounded in Dr. Rolf’s original 10‑series and its evolution through her first generation of teachers.

The Guild for Structural Integration

Dr. Rolf’s original teachings were passed down to many students, including Emmett Hutchins and Peter Melchior, her first two appointed teachers, who later founded the Guild for Structural Integration at Dr. Rolf’s request.

Jeffrey trained through the Guild for Structural Integration and developed a close relationship with Emmett Hutchins, both professionally and personally. In 2001 he moved to Kauai, Hawaiʻi, to be closer to Emmett, finding his style of Structural Integration to be in a class of its own.

Training and Experience

  • Practitioner since 1998.

  • Completed the original Advanced Training on Kauai with both Emmett Hutchins and Peter Melchior in 2002 and again in 2004.

  • Completed a rare one off Post Advanced Training in 2003 on Kauai with Emmett Hutchins and Neal Powers.

  • Received over 60 sessions over 20 years from his teacher and mentor Emmett, which gave him a rare, inside understanding of how Emmett thought and worked to create such profound change.

Jeffrey also made it a point to visit and receive sessions from many highly regarded Dr. Rolf–trained practitioners, including:

Emmett Hutchins, Peter Melchior, Andy Crow, Ron McComb, Jan Sultan, Harvey Ruderian, Jim Asher, Caroline Widmer, Ed Maupin, Ron Thompson, Neil Powers, Michael Salveson, Charles Siemers, and others.

Living in Bali, Jeffrey has also received countless sessions over more than 15 years from Pak Circus, a remarkable Balinese healer. After so many treatments, it is impossible not to absorb some of the intelligence and sensitivity of that touch into his own work.

Where Jeffrey Has Worked and Who He Has Worked With

Jeffrey has been in continuous private practice since 1998 and has also worked in leading international wellness settings, including:

  • Collaboration with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt and other health specialists.

He has worked with health practitioners, yoga teachers, and athletes from all over the world, including several world champions, such as:

  • Natascha Ragosina – 9‑time world champion boxer

  • Andy Irons – 3‑time world champion surfer, and his brother Bruce Irons, legendary surfer

  • Dustin Barca – professional surfer and professional MMA fighter

  • Sunny Garcia – world champion surfer

  • Terje Håkonsen – Norwegian world champion snowboarder who dominated freestyle competition in the 1990s

Jeffrey works comfortably with very young children, elders, and everyone in between.
